Best wake-up call ever! Would u like one too?

Some people dream of being woken up by the sound of a legitimate race-tuned Ferrari 458 GT Challenge car, but rest assured, it’s not always as fun as it sounds. Pardon the pun.

Following a 20-hour flight from Australia, we loaded into a TRD Toyota Tacoma and made the five-hour drive from LA to Las Vegas.

With nearly no sleep, we decided what better way to spend our first day in Vegas while waiting for SEMA to start, than to be racing a bunch of supercars around the 1.2-mile race track in Nevada at Dream Racing.

With racing for the day over, and the sun dipping below the horizon, tiredness kicked in, but the peaceful sunset would not last long, at least not for me.

Above: The boys push the $300,000USD Ferrari 458 GT Challenge car into the waiting area where a pair of comfortable couches are positioned.

If any of you have spent any time at the track, you will know that once the racing finishes, the adrenaline wears off, and your energy levels are at an all time low – making one vulnerable to things like, well, impromptu naps on anything remotely comfortable.

I made the mistake of taking a quick snooze on the lounges near the track, where even the sounds of GT3 cars lapping nearby and F-22 Raptors flying overhead were barely enough to make me stir (The track is near Nellis Air Force Base).

This is where the fun began (for some), and the hearing loss began for me. The boys quietly pushed the Ferrari 458 GT race car within two feet of the slumbering team mate, started her up, and a succession of revs resulted in the fire-breathing beast singeing the hairs on my right hand.

Now that’s what I call an extreme alarm clock.
